When I speak of the Awareness Garden, I am talking about our Inner Thoughts and the development of relationships with them.

We are born perfect, but, at times, others may see or interpret parts of us as being less than perfect.  In order to survive in our family, community, society, and world, we take those parts that are offensive or not appropriate and we tuck them deep inside where we can protect them. Also, it allows us to keep from experiencing the pain that comes from the ridicule or judgment.  These parts of us are not gone and sometimes come out when we feel threatened, scared, challenged, judged, or when we feel a need for protection. If we are in awareness, we can hear those Inner Thoughts and dialogue with them.

Some of the most common selves are the protector, the parent, the child, the martyr, the creator, don’t-rock-the-boat, and the rebel. As we grow and develop, these selves are brought forth at times when situations or people cause us to react. Most of the time this is done without our awareness, but by being aware of ones selves and creating a dialogue with them, we can gain insight into how and why we create the events that cause them to emerge. We can also focus on the core beliefs that have been generated by family, friends, preachers, teachers and society and a whole.

There are false beliefs that have created the parts of us that feel that we are not good enough, talented enough, loveable enough, smart enough, thin enough, and so on. From those beliefs, we create a barrier from awareness; we keep ourselves from experiencing growth because there might be pain associated with the awareness. As a child, one may have heard negative messages from those around them causing them to have false beliefs. When hearing the message, “You lied,” we believe that we are liars.  “You can’t seem to get anything right,” can cause a person to believe that they are stupid.  So the whole image or belief that someone has about themselves is based on one false belief after another until they say, “Why, is this happening to me?”

When we start questioning the reasons, we then start to grow and become aware of who we are and how we can heal. All work starts with self awareness. You can read books like, “Think and Grow Rich,” “The Secret,” “The Power of Positive Thinking,” and “The Law of Attraction,” but until you get in touch with your inner selves and core beliefs, all the self-help books you read will continue to manifest what you don’t want. The true work starts from the inside. So, how does it work? The first step is to identify your inner thoughts and core beliefs. I have created a workbook that can help you through that process on my contact page. Once you have identified your inner thoughts, you can start to change them. You can either do this on your own or with a facilitator.  I can help you.  Your success is my greatest joy, so the sooner you get started, the happier I will be and I know you will be, too.
